Regular Social Tennis Sessions
There are many opportunities to mix with other members and play social tennis at Forrester Park. Informal groups meet on Monday morning (10:00 to noon) and on both Thursday and Friday mornings at the same time. In the longer summer evenings, Club Night runs from 6pm on Wednesday and Junior Club Night is on a Friday from 5.15pm. At the weekends, we meet to play tennis from 11:00 to 1:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
All of these are informal ‘mix-in’ tennis sessions with a variety of standards represented there and I’m sure you will find these sessions to be friendly and welcoming. Members are encouraged to just come along and join in any of these sessions.
Other opportunities to get involved
The club enters four teams into the local summer leagues (Ladies, Men and two Mixed teams) – see the League teams page. Members who would like to play competitive league tennis should speak to Tim Eacott (contact details are on the club notice-board).
Informal tournaments of various kinds are organised regularly throughout the spring, summer and autumn (usually mixed doubles), along with the annual Club Championship (singles and doubles play). Friendly matches are to be arranged against local clubs in the winter to ensure there is some always an opportunity to play competitive tennis.
12 HOUR CHARITY TENNIS MARATHON: A big thank you to everyone who participated in and contributed to the Tennis Marathon on 28th May. 369 games were played and over £700 was raised for Cancer Research UK.
Our club coach, Libby Eden, has been coaching tennis professionally for 30 years and runs group coaching sessions each week throughout the year, on Tuesday at 10:00 and Wednesday at 10:00 (improvers).
Coaching is also available for individuals or small groups outside these times, tailored to your specific needs.
Court fees and Guests
There is no charge for the use of courts by club members, although there is a nominal ‘ball fee’ collected on court during the regular social tennis sessions. Non-members may hire courts at a cost of £12 per hour when not being used by members.
Guests are welcome to join club sessions, up to a maximum of three visits per year for each guest (subject to the nominal ‘ball fee’ mentioned above). Members can also bring guests to use the courts at other times, up to a maximum of three visits per year for each guest, at a cost of £6 per person (£4.50 for juniors). Please come into the clubhouse to sign guests in before playing.
Existing members will receive a £10 credit on their Gold Card every time they join a new member.
We don’t insist on tennis whites but appropriate tennis clothing should be worn. Suitable, non-marking shoes only please.Tennis Gallery Order a Forrester Park Hoodie
